IDEN BIOTECHNOLOGY, one of the top prizes in the 8th edition of EuropaBio Most Innovative Biotech SME Awards
Last 22nd of November, Iden Biotechnology was awarded as one of the top prizes in the 8th edition of EuropaBio Most Innovative Biotech SME Awards together with NovaBiotics (healthcare biotech, UK) and Carbios (industrial biotech, France). The award ceremony was celebrated in a high-level event at the European Parliament with biotech CEOs, industry leaders and venture capitalists.
This prize recognizes highly innovative small and medium sized enterprises in Europe that have developed novel ways of meeting our societal, technical, and environmental problems through the application of biotechnology. “It’s a great honor to receive this European recognition to Iden’s activity, focused on the contribution of providing sustainable solutions for the current challenges of the agriculture by using biotechnology as a key tool for solving current social needs, such as increasing food supply for a growing population” said Nora Alonso, CEO of Iden Biotechnology.
The global food production need will be met through the combination and integrated use of a toolbox of current and future green biotechnology technologies: by using more efficient crop varieties and more sustainable agricultural inputs, agrobiologicals, such as plant biostimulants and biopesticides. At IDEN we develop products of high value to the farmer, to provide integrated crop yield and quality enhancement solutions, including agrobiological products (plant biostimulants and biopesticides) and more productive crop varieties. The use of more efficient crop varieties and agricultural inputs helps farmers to optimize their investments with the added benefit of reducing environmental impacts and contribute to an economic growth of the European agricultural sector, objectives included in the Europe 2020, EU’s growth strategy.
This recognition is a great support for Iden to keep on working on solutions for the current technical challenges to contribute to both social and environmental interests. The use of biotechnological tools in agriculture has a positive impact on farm profitability and a final impact in consumers.
It’s a pleasure to have been one of the winners of this edition. We would like to congratulate NovaBiotics and Carbios for this recognition and we also thank to EUROPABIO for the support offered to SME biotech companies.
